FOOD: Sip Sip – Harbour Island
Sip Sip named after the Bahamian slang for gossip; sits high up on a dune above Harbour Island’s famous pink sand beach. You can’t miss the beautiful bright green building with dark blue shutters. I loved the eclectic decor mixed with old Bahamian paintings and photos. Sip Sip serves lunch only, so I recommend popping by early and grabbing a table on the deck. The permanent menu is fairly small and has a few staples like the Lobster Quesadilla & Grouper burger. But the specials change out every day and they are just as eclectic as the decor.
The Food:
On this visit, I tried the 3 bean salad accompanied by a side of grouper. The salad had green beans, red & white kidney beans with a herbed vinaigrette & feta cheese, it was very light & fresh. The feta & vinaigrette was the perfect topping for this salad, the blend of flavours was surprisingly delicious. The grouper was seasoned perfectly and the batter was very light, I could tell the fish was fresh. I wouldn’t normally order a 3 bean salad at a restaurant but I was pleasantly surprised by the dish.
Everyone at the table raved about how delicious the food was. I will definitely come back to Sip Sip to try out some more of their delectable dishes and take in that impressive view. I highly recommend giving Sip Sip a try on your next visit to Harbour Island.
Have you eaten at Sip Sip before, what did you try?
